This month’s theme for the level 20 One-shot is Harry Potter, so expect lots of broomsticks, magic and wizards.

Rule are listed as usual at D20 Chaos One-Shot Rules, with plenty of choice for races, items and challenges. This month there are some special items, spells and backgrounds to match the theme!

Magic Items

  • Nimbus 2000: broom of flying with 60ft flying speed and advantage on Dex saves while airborne
  • Ring of the Animagus: polymorph into random beasts (Action or Bonus) and heal using hit dice as a Bonus action
  • Merlin’s Cloak: base AC of 21 (formula is 15 + PB) and resistant to spell damage
  • Elder Wand: +3 to spell attacks and the DC of your spells, and learn new spells!
  • Chaos Arcane Shot: +3 laser pistol firearm dealing force damage
  • Chaos Arcane Mark: +3 laser rifle firearm dealing force damage

Feats

  • Chaos Cleave: extra melee attack as a Bonus action when you take the Attack action
  • Chaos Marksman: replaces Sharpshooter, -10 on range attacks to-hit for +20 damage only
  • Chaos Master: replaces Great Weapon Master, -10 on melee attacks to-hit for +20 damage only

Backgrounds

Add the “HP Magic School (DiceMaster)” feat to your character, then you can select one of the following feats on your character sheet to get the bonuses listed. Add the extra feat to your finished character sheet (note: not the builder screen) by clicking the Features and Traits tab, then selecting Feats, then clicking Manage Feats link at top and scrolling down to Add your choice.

  • Gryffindor House
    • You have a +1 bonus to both your Constitution and Charisma scores.
    • Bravehearted feature: You have advantage on saving throws against being frightened from any source other than a Dementor.
  • Hufflepuff House
    • You have a +1 bonus to both your Constitution and Wisdom scores.
    • Steadfast Loyalty feature: You have advantage on saving throws against any effect that would make you attack or work against a creature you would normally consider an ally.
  • Ravenclaw House
    • You have a +1 bonus to both your Intelligence and Wisdom scores.
    • In-Depth Knowledge feature: Whenever you make an Intelligence or Wisdom ability check that lets you add your proficiency bonus, you can treat a d20 roll of 5 or lower as a 6.
  • Slytherin House
    • You have a +1 bonus to both your Dexterity and Charisma scores.
    • Compromising Information feature: Whenever you make a Charisma check related to using a person’s secrets, you are considered proficient in the appropriate skill and add double your proficiency bonus to the check, instead of your normal proficiency bonus.
  • Beauxbatons School
    • You have a +1 bonus to both your Dexterity and Wisdom scores.
    • Nimble Evasion feature: Whenever you take the dodge action, add half your proficiency bonus to your AC and your Dexterity saving throws.
  • Durmstrang School
    • You have a +1 bonus to both your Strength and Constitution scores.
    • Dark Education feature: You have advantage on any rolls made to resist magical effects causing Charm or Fear.
